Lawyerpalooza 2004

Countdown started for second annual event!

Seattle, WA (May 6, 2004) -- The countdown is underway for the Second Annual Lawyerpalooza (TM) Battle of the Law Firm Bands!  Seattle’s finest attorney/musicians are finalizing their set lists, sharpening their riffs, and getting ready to transfer venue from the courtroom to a rock stage. While fiercely battling for the coveted Golden Palooza award, they’re also joining forces to raise money for local school music programs.

The Second Annual Lawyerpalooza (TM) Battle of the Law Firm Bands kicks off Monday, May 10, 2004, at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel featuring musicians from the following Seattle law firms:  Davis Wright Tremaine LLP; Groff Murphy Trachtenberg & Everard PLLC; Karr Tuttle Campbell; Lane Powell Spears Lubersky LLP; Law Office of David Huber; McNaul Ebel Nawrot Helgren & Vance PLLC; Perkins Coie LLP; and Preston Gates & Ellis LLP.

The Fairmont Olympic Hotel is donating the Spanish Ballroom for Lawyerpalooza (TM), which will kickoff at 5:00 p.m. with live student musicians performing in the foyer, followed by the lawyer bands starting at 6:00 p.m.  Each band will play a 20-minute set.  A panel of judges comprising local celebrities including Lawyerpalooza (TM) veterans
Spike O’Neill (from KZOK-FM’s Bob Rivers Show), Anne Bremner (noted local trial attorney and analyst on the Fox News Channel) and newcomer Gene Stout (Seattle P-I veteran Pop Music Critic) will pick the winner of the coveted “Golden Palooza” award based on performance and audience response.  Steve Pool of KOMO-TV will return as master of ceremonies.

Last year’s first-ever Lawyerpalooza (TM) drew 500 people and raised $24,000 for instrumental music instruction in Seattle schools. "We want to showcase a creative side of lawyers that most people don’t see, have some fun and raise money for kids’ music programs." says Mike Nesteroff, Lawyerpalooza (TM) Organizing Committee Chair and guitarist in the Lane Powell band.  "What could be more fun than poking a little fun at lawyers, rocking and rolling to good music and helping out kids?"

Lawyerpalooza (TM) targets elementary music programs in particular since those usually do not receive much attention yet they form the foundation for some of the higher profile programs in the high schools.  “There are a lot of schools with needs, and we know that every dollar we raise can go a surprisingly long way,” says Nesteroff.

Advance tickets are now available online (through 6:00 p.m.. Sunday, May 9, 2004) through
TicketWindow for $25. Any remaining tickets will be made available at the door for $40. Lawyerpalooza (TM) 2003, a first-time event, was a sell-out crowd so attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets early. Sponsorships are also welcome.

Lawyerpalooza (TM) is a Washington not-for-profit corporation, and donations are tax deductible.  Additional information about Lawyerpalooza (TM) is available on the web at
